If you have never calculated a life path number before, read the overview of numerology first. It covers the four core numbers — life path, expression, soul urge and personality — and shows how each is derived. The guides below go deeper on one number each.
Every guide follows the same shape: the calculation worked through with a real date, what the number is traditionally held to mean, the shadow side that flattering readings tend to skip, how it behaves alongside the other core numbers, and the mistakes people most often make when working it out.
The life path numbers
- 1 The Leader Initiative, self-direction, and the loneliness the tradition attaches to going first.
- 2 The Peacemaker Partnership and attunement, and the self-erasure that shadows both.
- 3 The Communicator Expression and charm — and why this number’s readings vary more than any other.
- 4 The Builder Structure and patience, and the difference between effort and progress.
- 5 The Adventurer Appetite and freedom, and the line between moving towards and moving away.
- 6 The Nurturer Responsibility and care, and the point where care becomes control.
- 7 The Seeker Analysis and withdrawal, the most consistently described number in the system.
- 8 The Achiever Authority and material judgement, and why this number has the worst press in numerology.
- 9 The Humanitarian Completion and breadth of sympathy — plus the arithmetic quirk unique to nine.
- 11 The Intuitive The first master number, and the calculation dispute that decides whether you have it.
- 22 The Master Builder The rarest life path, and the weight of being told so.
- 33 The Master Teacher The number that cannot occur at all under the standard method.
A note on what you will not find here
These guides do not carry lists of famous people said to share your number. That kind of list is everywhere in numerology writing, and most of it is unreliable: published birth dates are frequently wrong, the same celebrity turns up under two different numbers on two different sites, and nobody shows their working. A list you cannot check is not evidence of anything.
What you will find instead is the arithmetic, written out, so you can check every number yourself.
